I provide mental health services to persons of all faiths, races, and sexual orientations, ages 13 and above. My competencies include couples/family/
relationship issues, grief, anxiety, psychosis, depression, and trauma. I continually learn new treatments to meet my client's needs.
My therapeutic approach is founded in my belief that we are all broken - while the God I love desires that we all experience the "life to the fullest" (John 10:10). I seek to help each client know what it means to be beloved. My approach is also founded in Bowen Family Systems theory: a research-based examination of the ways we are profoundly shaped by our families. Thus, I journey with my clients from loneliness and isolation toward connectedness and full self-expression. I meet with clients in person or by video, but as a rule I do not conduct sessions via telephone.
I maintain professional boundaries. Although I am an ordained Presbyterian (USA) minister, I will not engage in theological debates nor attempt to proselytize. Instead, I will follow your lead regarding the role of faith in our sessions.
My schedule includes afternoon and evening hours to accommodate students, parents, and/or those who work 9-5. I accept most insurances including Medicaid and Medicare, and I offer a sliding fee schedule for clients who choose to self-pay.
My office is conveniently located in Ellicott City just off routes 29 and 40, with a second-level rear-entrance above a two-floor shopping center. I provide clients with ample parking, a safe and quiet lobby with beverages, and a restroom.
If you are considering working with me, I encourage a free brief telephone consultation to help us decide if we are a good fit. If we mutually decide to go forward, I will schedule your intake appointment and will send you informational forms to be completed before we meet.
